Giver
I began volunteering at Colorado Animal Rescue (CARE) when I was in sixth grade with my sister who I begged to be my chaperone. We volunteered once a week for two years. We took dogs on walks, and played with the dogs that needed extra attention. During those two years, I would ask my family for money for Christmas to buy things that were on CARE's wishlist.
When I turned sixteen and was old enough to volunteer on my own, I went back up to CARE and got re-trained for volunteer work. This time, I assisted the staff in their morning cleaning. I helped clean out dog kennels, and clean out the cat cubbies twice a week for an entire summer. I continued to walk dogs and play with the cats as well. I completed 22 volunteer hours here in the 2015-16 school year. |
I spent 8 hours volunteering at the Wolf Sanctuary in Fort Collins, completing my 30 hours required for graduation. |
